The sliding and diving controls are still the same as they were last year, so they’re fairly easy to get used to if you’ve been playing Madden regularly. How to Slide

•     To QB slide on Xbox One/Series X|S, pass the line of scrimmage, and tap X. This works whether you're running or not. If you press or hold X, your quarterback will dive.
•     QB sliding on the PS4/PS5 is also just as simple: all you have to do is pass the line of scrimmage and tap Square. Again, don't press or hold Square, or your quarterback will dive.
•     For the sake of being exhaustive, if you're on PC and for some reason using a mouse and keyboard (shudder), E is the default sliding input.

If you instead hold the button down, your player will dive through the air. This opens you up to fumbles, so it's definitely not recommended unless you're at the goal line or near a first down. It's also worth noting that non-QBs can also tap that button to essentially sit down in place and end a play. This is a solid tactic for chewing clock late in the game, but not really what you're looking for during most of the game.
